When David Moufang released his classic 'Kunststoff' album in the mid-nineties he set a new benchmark for IDM artists to aspire to. With '10/11' is has done the same again. This is spacy, atmospheric music, drenched in soul. Sometimes mysterious, sometimes serene, sometimes mechanical, sometimes funky. A minimal, dub asthetic pervades the album but it avoids falling into any of the cliches that such an approach can entail. There is far too much invention going on here for that. For me the sound conjures up a deserted latenight cityscape that maintains a sense of optimism despite being recorded the day after 9/11. Move D is still on top of the game.
