The Beethoven Moonlight Sonata is one of the most well-known pieces of piano music. Gloomy and deep, it's testament to Beethoven's genius. The legend is that Beethoven was first inspired to write his moonlight sonata whilst visiting a lake in Hungary. He penned it in 1801, the second of two sonatas under the work number Opus 27. There's a rumor that the musical master dedicated it to a 17-year-old countess, one of his piano pupils, with whom he was infatuated. Beethoven frequently pined after unattainable women, which is unfortunate for him but great for us since it inspired so much music! The Moonlight is Beethoven's 14th sonata.

Beethoven Piano Concerto No 1ARTHUR RUBINSTEIN. Chopin MazurkasARTHUR RUBINSTEIN. Chopin - Preludi, Op.

Last Movement of Moonlight Sonata written by Ludwig van Beethoven. The stormy final movement (C♯ minor), in sonata form, is the weightiest of the three, reflecting an experiment of Beethoven's (also carried out in the companion sonata, Opus 27, No. 1 and later on in Opus 101) placement of the most important movement of the sonata last. The writing has many fast arpeggios and strongly accented notes, and an effective performance demands lively and skillful playing.

Beethoven: Sonatas - Pathetique & Moonlight. Ludwig van Beethoven. This recording of Beethoven piano sonatas is exquisite. Arthur Rubinstein's playing is beautifully lyrical and expressive, without sacrificing the integrity of Beethoven's music. This recording is a MUST for everyone who loves the music of Beethoven and a masterful pianist. Many peole recognize the famous Moonlight Sonata and The Pathetique. But who can forget Les Adieux and the Appassionata which were wrote in Beethoven's later years when his hearing was almost completely gone. It is remarkable that someone can compose such great music without being able to hear it. All of Beethovens music has such an emotional depth to it unlike anothers' in the time preceeding him.

Presto agitato. Piano Sonata No. 26 in E flat major, Op. 81a "Les Adieux". 6. Das Wiedersehn.

I admire Rubinstein only when playing Chopin but the 3rd movement of the sonata op.27 n.2 must be heard. It gives consistency to the whisper two initial movements (Adagio sostenuto and Allegretto) with a vortex of fast notes that really make this Presto agitato an epitome of Romanticism.
